Massage Oils

Origin

The English word “massage” derives from an Arabic word ‘mass’h’, which means to press gently. This gives a hint to the long history of massage therapy and massage oils. The first description of massage oils dates back 2,500 BC in China. The Vedic Indian Ayurvedic culture used massage oils for medication and healing purposes. The ancient Greeks valued the benefits of massage therapy and scented massage oils for daily use.

A Useful and Very Popular Body Massage Oil and Its Properties

Carrier Oils, also known as base oils, such as Sweet Almond, are used for diluting essential oils before applying to the skin. Essential oils are highly concentrated, and in most cases should not be applied directly on to the body. The carrier oil therefore dilutes the essential oils in the blend, holding the concentrated essential oils in suspension.  Many professional masseurs and natural therapists prefer Sweet Almond to other carrier oils for its nutritional value and moisturising properties.  The vast majority of body workers prefer the consistency, viscosity and feel of sweet almond, which acts as an emollient to soften, smooth and nourish dry skin.

Sweet almond oil contains many vitamins and nutrients, namely vitamins A, B1 and B2, B6, and Vitamin E.  It is also high in mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Sweet Almond oil is especially good for people that are prone to eczema, relieving itching, soreness, dryness and inflammation.

Sweet almond massage oil is therapeutic and nourishing. It is suitable for all skin types. It is specially recommended for sensitive, dry and mature skin. Sweet Almond oil has excellent penetrating properties and is lightweight. It relieves itching, inflammation, burns, dryness and thread veins.
